(70 kg) Overall MMA Record: 21-5-0 Strengths: Wrestling, solid chin, great flexibility and endurance Training: A typical day of training starts at 9-10 am with Piloga (Pilates and Yoga). Strength and conditioning 10:15 – noon. Sparring, grappling, wrestling, jiu-jitsu – alternate days or combination of two or three from 5-7:30 pm. Questions & Answers: When and why did you start training for fighting? In March of 2004. I started by accident, fighting an exhibition bout on a small Midwest show. I was going to watch my brother fight Adrian Serrano, they announced an opening for a NHB fight, and I thought my wrestling background would carry me through the fight. It almost did until I gave up my back and you know how the rest of the story goes. Oh yeah, and training kept me out of the bars and taverns. What ranks and titles have you held? In college, the wrestling team I was on won the National Junior Collegiate Championship in 2001. I am the former lightweight STRIKEFORCE Champion; I also hold lightweight belts in 3 Midwest organizations – 2X XFO Champion, Xtreme Kage Kombat Champion, and Combat-Do Champion. Do you have any heroes? Dan Gable and Joey Gilbert What is your favorite technique? I like a big slam. What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It is an honor, but most important is winning and trying to attain the lightweight title.. Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn?
